| (January 6, 2008, Westport, New York) The ISIS Paranormal Team set out to investigate a location situated in Westport, New York after receiving complaints about paranormal activity from the family residing in a single family home in Westport. The home consisted of a family of six, two females, and four males: the wife is identified as Sandy, the husband Rob, and the couple’s three boys and one daughter currently live at the location in Essex County. The family had resided at the location for a period of nine plus years in a beautifully built home formerly owned by at least two previous owners. The house is continuously under renovation with myriad projects ongoing in terms of repairs. The house was built on the property in the early 1970's, in the Lake Champlain region, and the property was once home to a saw mill in the early 1900’s.
Sandy seemed to be the primary target associated with the paranormal events in question. The ISIS Paranormal Investigations Team was called in to either verify or debunk the reported phenomena and to further clarify, what if anything, was occurring at the location. Complaints included physical ailments including continuous and unexplained fatigue or exhaustion, unexplained mood swings, and some instances of insomnia. Meanwhile, further reports of unexplained phenomena include: Hearing unexplained noises and banging; and seeing the apparition of an unidentified male by the fireplace in the living room of the location. Visitors to the location have reported seeing a “black figure” in the home, and the apparition in the front yard of a small girl that later disappeared. Sandy reported that items come up missing, and that she was having problems with appliances in her home. On one occasion, the family lost $250.00 which was never recovered. Tools, beepers, small household items mysteriously come up missing and then show up in strange places within the home. The air conditioner has been turned off and found unplugged when only Sandy is at home and no one else is present to take such action. Further, on one occasion, the stove timer went off for a period of 45 minutes, despite all attempts to shut it off. Unusual odors have been reported in the home: Sandy conveyed to the ISIS team that she has smelled feces, cigar smoke, and the unexplained smell of “candy wrappers,” in various parts of the home. Dramatic temperature changes have been experienced at the location that, according to the client, do not have a logical explanation. Both cold and hot spots have been felt in various areas of the home, and the client reports sometimes suddenly breaking out in a sweat and experiencing “malaise.” On a number of occasions, Sandy reported being touched by an unseen force. Sometimes she feels something “pat her on the head,” and other times, she feels something “touching her back.” Both Sandy and Rob also report the strong sensation that they are being watched by something unseen. Sandy reported that sometimes the bed vibrates or shakes in the master bedroom without cause. Sandy has woken with unexplained bruises on her body – on one occasion, she woke with bruises all over her legs, and she has also awoke with straight line scratches on her body as well. According to Sandy, there is no explanation for why the bruises and the scratches were present when she awoke. The couple’s pre-adolescent daughter reported feeling like “the couch was breathing” when she was sitting on the couch. Sandy experienced the same sensation in the same location on more than one occasion. In a similar instance, the couple’s youngest son, when smaller, feared what he referred to as “curtain monsters,” and does not like to discuss his experiences in the home. Upon the initial contact with the ISIS team, Sandy advised us that she believed she was dealing with a “bad spirit,” one that claimed responsibility for haunting her; the spirit also advised her that “his father” was also around her.” Sandy reported to the cofounders of the team that she was in the process of recovering from a severe neck injury that she believed this “entity” was responsible for. At one point, Sandy explained that the spirit openly communicated with her, that it revealed that “he was an old abusive boyfriend, and that he further claimed being responsible for ‘the box flying out in front of me and causing me to fall down my basement stairs.’” In addition, Sandy reports experiencing myriad health issues since the activity began; that the spirit claimed it was the cause behind the issues and was further blocking the ability for her to receive a correct diagnosis: I have some health issues, he says he blocks x-ray results with his energy. A priest said he would help me then turned his back on me when this Evil Spirit started haunting him. My kids are scared. Wherever I sit they feel the furniture vibrate. My daughter said once the couch felt like it was breathing. Sandy told the team cofounders about her lifelong ability to communicate with the spirit world. Sandy reported that she could communicate with this spirit who was threatening her physical well-being. According to Sandy, the entity or spirit in question, sometimes claimed that it was her brother, and made further claims that it was responsible for her ill health and injuries. Sandy further conveyed that she had experienced instances of automatic writing where the entity or spirit wrote things like “Go to hell,” and “Rob is going to die today,” on random occasions. When Sandy attempted to thwart automatic writing experiences, the entity or spirit forced her hands and/or tongue to form letters and spell out what it wanted to express: “This spirit moves my thumb and forefinger to form letters to speak to me, if I sit on my hands, it has moved my tongue or foot to form letters. “ For example, on one occasion when Sandy struggled against allowing the automatic writing experience to occur, the entity or spirit forced her to “form letters with her tongue and fingers that spelled out: ‘WHY WON’T YOU TALK TO ME?’” Some of the automatic writing experiences Sandy endured produced weird symbols and the entity advised Sandy that the symbols represented the unique and permanent connection between Sandy and the entity or spirit. The symbols that appeared during this particular automatic writing session in question produced five triangles in a row, separated by a single line connecting each of the triangles in between the separate shapes. Then, three circles were made around the symbols. Sandy reports experiencing “sleep paralysis” or “psychic paralysis” and some unseen force touching her on more than one occasion. During the incidents, Sandy reports that her husband underwent a form of “psychic sleep” where he did not awaken during the attacks she experienced. Sandy asserts: I couldn't open my eyes, I felt paralyzed. I could not call out to my husband but after a while my husband heard me crying. He thought I was having a bad dream and put his arm around me. If my husband’s hand is anywhere near my chest. It will tell me, "tell Rob to get his hand away, you belong to me". . . He raped me once as much as a spirit can but I left my body! Rob, the husband in this scenario, was also experiencing strange issues with his health and reported that as long as he was in the home he felt fatigued and exhausted, but as soon as he left the location he began to feel like his old self again. Rob complained that he felt eerie sensations all of the time and often felt as if he was not alone, but brushed off the sensations and attempted to rationalize the experiences. In addition, Rob’s sleep pattern presently became disturbed and he found himself waking at all hours of the night. Continuous broken sleep could be the cause of his fatigue and exhaustion. Sandy reported that she had attempted to contact many others for assistance with her issue, often to no avail. Sandy has former Roman Catholic affiliations and is currently Lutheran. She sought the assistance of priests; one priest refused to assist her any further “under the grounds that he believed her to be schizophrenic.” A second priest provided Sandy with holy water which she used as directed – the experience left her feeling like she was being attacked by a “dark energy and that something was trying to possess her.” The team planned an investigation and remained in continuous contact with the client until we could arrive. In late December, Sandy reported being physically attacked once again by something she could not see: Last night that evil spirit tried to paralyze me again. I don't even want to fall asleep anymore because that is when it happens. I heard it around my head like a noise that I can't explain. As soon as I felt that spot on my back, I gathered every ounce of energy I had to yell out my husband’s name, I tried to yell but it came out very softly and it was so, so difficult to move my legs but I did and I don't even remember if I got out of bed but I knew I wanted to. It should be duly noted that just 24 hours before being contacted by Sandy initially, one of our team members had an encounter with an entity in their home. The entity paralyzed the investigator and assaulted her while she was paralyzed. The investigator could not move or scream, and other residents within the investigator’s household were sound asleep, oblivious of the psychic assault. The assault ceased only when the investigator willed herself to move, then the assault ended just as quickly as it began. The next day, an email was received by Sandy describing the same exact scenario – both the investigator and the client experienced similar attacks, even before initial contact between the two was made. As mentioned earlier, Sandy believed that the entity was responsible for her neck injury, causing her to fall down the basement stairs. It should be noted that while the ISIS team was at the location, two investigators went down the stairs in the basement to collect EVP samples. When the session was over, the two investigators turned to approach the stairs and found a hack saw lying on the forth step from the bottom – a tool that was clearly not there when the investigator’s descended the stairs initially. The latter event is eerily similar to the initial report made by Sandy, expressing concern that the entity that was bothering her was responsible for her sudden fall in the basement stairs and resulting injuries from the fall. Rob and Sandy were emotionally stressed due to events that were occurring in their home and reported more frequent arguing between one another. Sandy is currently receiving pain treatment for her injury, and reports taking pain medication on occasion to alleviate her issues with chronic pain. Other than that, the only other medication that Sandy reports taking is an herbal remedy referred to as Echinacea, relied on for its natural healing properties. Sandy reports the social use of alcohol only, and asserts that she is in mentally stable health despite her circumstances. Sandy was clearly honest about her interest in the paranormal and she did advise our team that an Ouija Board was used on the premises, early on, when activity first commenced. According to Sandy, her children received an Ouija Board for Christmas and used the board to see what would come up. While the session didn’t prove to offer the children much in the way of a response, the activity in the location dramatically increased. After that time and the use of the Ouija, the activity escalated and had now reached a point that was chaotic and stressing for the entire family. Photographic Findings Two photographs of the electromagnetic field detector were taken when the detector indicated activity in the kitchen area. The photos prove that a reading of four millagauss was obtained in the area. A single image that appears in the upstairs master bedroom reveals a malevolent looking entity. One giant orb is found in the living room of the location. During the cleansing, an unexplained black anomaly appears in one of our photographs. A seemingly black energy forms over the dining room table just before our team conducts the cleansing. EVPS 14 Evps were captured at the location. Evps addressed the clients by name, many responded intelligently, and the evps made it clear that our team’s presence was not appreciated. Video Evidence No postive video findings are associated with this case. Psychic Artwork, Angela Kaufman The ISIS Team Psychic Artist took notes and drew sketches during the investigation of the Westport home. Angela Kaufman noted feeling nauseous upon the team’s arrival, despite the fact that she was allowed to know nothing about the history of the events being investigated. At 12:54 pm, Angela reports feeling significant agitation near the fire place in the living room – the same place where the client reported seeing an unidentified male entity. At 12:55, Angela produced a sketch of “a balding man with a medium beard.” Angela got the sense that the man had, at one time, lived on the property with his daughters. At 1:25 pm, Angela notes that the investigator she is partnered with, Robin, experiences vertigo when entering one of the children’s rooms. Robin noted, “It feels as if something just passed right through me.” At 1:30 pm, Angela made a sketch of a sensed “male presence,” one that was a “young male farmer and possible former occupant of the location.” At 2:10 pm, Angela notes the sensation that she is being followed or watched – a sensation that is reported by the clients during the initial contact with the ISIS team cofounders. Secondary Psychic Artist, Brian Evans At 12:57 pm, Brian reported the feeling of a “tremendous, heavy pressure on his chest and difficulty breathing.” At 1:35 pm, Brian notes the oppressive feeling in the youngest boy’s bedroom at the top of the stairs. The cofounders noted the same feeling during their initial walk through at the location. Two minutes later, Brian experiences vertigo “I got very light-headed,” and Brian described the shift in energy: “it seemed like I was entering one world, one warmer and lighter, after leaving another.” Psychic Experiences, Robin Evans Investigator Robin Evan’s notes reveal that at around 1 pm, she sensed a presence at the fire place in the living room. This notation corresponds with the notes offered by psychic artist, Angela Kaufman. Robin also notes: “Sensing two spirits, one that is possibly Native American.” Clairsentient, Justyn Staley At 12:55 pm, Justyn Staley notes that the brand new batteries in his digital camera drain down to nothing and the camera ceases to work. At 1:02 pm, in the same location where the batteries are drained, Justyn notes an EMF reading that is “4 milligauss.” To check his findings via esoteric means, Justyn then turns to dowsing rods, which split apart and move away from each other in opposite directions in the same location. Photographs taken at the same time correlate with Justyn’s findings. At 1:19 pm, Justyn Staley notes a “heavy sensation in his chest and difficulty breathing while in the dining room of the location.” At 1:45 pm, Justyn’s notes reveal the following experience: “In the doorway of the upstairs bathroom, I felt a slight pain in the back of my head. I heard, ‘You really don’t belong here.’ Both dowsing rods crossed as an approached a mirror near the bathroom door.” Pendulum Findings Time Findings 12:45pm Pendulum used in front of property. Spun widdershins, and pulled toward the home. 12:59 pm Pendulum spins widdershins in the living room of the location. Several minutes later, investigator Mark Winters notes a camera failure at 1:07 pm in the same location. In each of the bedrooms tested upstairs, the pendulum was noted to spin widdershins by at least two investigators. Temperature Fluctuations No significant temperature fluctuations were noted during the process of our investigation. EMF Findings One significant finding occurred in the kitchen location where the EMF reader went off and continued to go off for a period of about seven minutes. Although thoroughly checked into, there seemed to be no mundane cause for the electromagnetic disturbance noted. Conclusions After interviewing both Rob and Sandy, and examining all of the evidence collected, including our team member’s subjective and psychic experiences, we conclude that the clients were victims of an incubus attack, also known as the Old Hag syndrome. Sandy’s experiences, as well as the experiences of one of our investigators, and the details of the accounts reveal the common features of such attacks. We also conclude that there was more than one spirit at the location, and that some of the activity that was manifesting was poltergeistic in nature. Since Sandy has experienced, via her own confession, spirit activity and the communication with spirits for more than 20 years, our team concludes that the history of the home and land is not the sole source of the activity in question, but that it may have contributing factors. We are however, still in the process of conducting the historical research and will update the details of this report with any historical correlations discovered. The clients requested that we conduct a cleansing of the home. The ISIS team conducted a complete cleansing of the location. During the cleansing, some investigators had difficulty breathing, but we continued the cleansing regardless. Also during the cleansing, Rob complained of smelling the overwhelming scent of urine. Upon completion of the cleansing, the unexplained scent of roses began to fill all of the rooms in the home, first beginning in the upstairs of the location. Before leaving the location, our team confiscated the Ouija Board as a precaution. The next night, the investigator that was physically assaulted in her home by an entity was assaulted once more. Again, the investigator struggled against the unseen attacker and the attack ceased. Two days after the investigation we received an email from the client thanking us and reporting all is well. No further physical attacks have been reported by Sandy or any investigators from our team. A week later, the client contacted us via the phone to let us know that the home was still fine, but that she sensed negativity in the garage area. Our team conducted a distant cleansing – and the negative activity has since ceased completely.
