Okay. Here’s a news bit that can make your blood boil and your hair stand up on end. Now, a pink Ouija board has been created to specifically target girls. The board is offered up in hot pink and is being marketed by, you guessed it, Hasbro. I guess the company has to get in on the whole paranormal surge and try to market their “toys” to the youth who might have some interest in playing around with spirits. The board is actually made for girls ages eight and over and it is being marketed for $20.00.
Stephen Phelan, the communication director for Human Life International, asserts that there are some dangerous spiritual elements to the board and the board is not just a game. I have to agree. Our team has conducted a number of investigations where an Ouija board was used and the paranormal activity either started up or accelerated and intensified dramatically. Now some people may outwardly wonder if the board is so dangerous than how can Hasbro be marketing it as a toy for so many years. The answer to such a question is simple; since when has big business worried about the ramifications of the products it sells? After all, business is business. Of course, there is the argument that “hey, it’s just a toy and it doesn’t really work,” right? Again, that depends on who you talk too.
According to Patricia Riso, a spokeswoman for Hasbro, the game is just a game, it’s for fun and entertainment; this was the response to the several dozen complaints the company got for marketing the pink Ouija board. Fun and entertainment? Oh, yeah, a real blast! Basically, the argument goes if you feel that badly about it, don’t buy it. Well, here’s an alternative argument; even if parents don’t buy it, it doesn’t mean that somehow, someway the board won’t get into the hands of a youngster.
Let’s face it, even if the board doesn’t open up any spiritual doorways or portals and nothing paranormal manifests, what about the potential psychological ramifications? Imagine young girls getting scared crapless at an overnight sleepover because they sat around with their friends playing with a pink Ouija board. Now, even if the board is manipulated by another child, who’s to say what level of terror they can invoke in another child. Yep, that sounds like real good solid, fun, and entertainment. Definitely age appropriate right? NOT!
